“She said, “I’m so afraid.” And I said, “Why?,” and she said, “Because I’m so profoundly happy. Happiness like this is frightening.” I asked her why and she said, “They only let you be this happy if they’re preparing to take something from you.”—Khaled Hosseini ,The Kite Runner (via perfumance)
“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”—Ralph Waldo Emerson
“This life is what you make it. Not matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, somg go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And babe, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up becuase if you give up, you’ll never find your soul mate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about”—Marilyn Monroe
“May we never let the things we can’t have, or don’t have, or shouldn’t have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it, for one of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have.”—Richard L. Evans
“To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—this is to have succeeded.”—Bessie Anderson Stanley
Sorry for the inactivity on this blog, I’ve been really busy these past few months and I’m just settling down now that I’m secure in my studies and new schedule. I’m still relatively busy, but I’m gonna queue some a whole bunch of stuff!!
“..maybe everyone’s just too busy trying to clean up gray area. Trying to fill every void and space with definition with “meaning” when really the meaning is in the calm, in the absence of everything else”—(via -akyss)
So I rolled out of bed this morn and got some coffee, totally forgetting that today was garbage day at my aunt's house (she's out of town, I said I'd water her plants/get mail etc.) So I rush over there and see the garbage truck on the other side of the street. I get out thinking imma have to banter with grumpy old garbage men, BUT NO. THE GARBAGE MAN IS A SEXY, TAN, AND SCULPTED PIECE OF AWESOME. Wae?!?!?
You know what I have on? Too big basketball shorts and an ugly ratty T-shirt. Oh and my hair is in big dumb Celie braids. I’m all like “wait! Did you go to this side of the street yet?” And Sex God is like “you got lucky. We go around :)” and I’m like “OMG yes. I don’t think I’ve seen you before?” And he’s like “no, you probably haven’t. I go to SIU but I’m staying with family for the summer and this is a temporary job.” Then I was like “oh. OK. Thanks. I’ll put my garbage out then.” And he’s like “yeah, you should” Idk if he was flirting with me, but it’s probably because I didn’t have on a bra and its cold outside. So I’m currently hiding inside.
“You cannot pretend to read a book. Your eyes will give you away. So will your breathing. A person entranced by a book simply forgets to breathe. The house can catch alight and a reader deep in a book will not look up until the wallpaper is in flames.”—Mr Pip, by Lloyd Jones. (via somethingxoutxofxnothing)
“I am so beautiful, sometimes people weep when they see me. And it has nothing to do with what I look like really, it is just that I gave myself the power to say that I am beautiful, and if I could do that, maybe there is hope for them too. And the great divide between the beautiful and the ugly will cease to be. Because we are all what we choose.”—Margaret Cho (via captainporkerella)
“The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live.”—Leo F. Buscaglia (via blaqmagic)
